A Fish Named `Dawn’

DAWN

Falling into a swamp I forgot was there
My eyes could see, but neither mouth nor nose could breathe for air
As my skin turned blue, my mind grew increasingly faint
Next I knew, I was in a place standing next to a glowing saint

He extended a hand as in a gesture to greet
Strange thing was I was now, standing on my own two feet
Bewildered and perplexed by, in what place I was
His comforting smiling face wordlessly said, `Don’t give it a fuss’

Calmly, still hand in hand, we walked
Though nothing was said, he began to talk
He spoke of this place, this land made by the gods
It was purposely intended for unabashed sods

It was the simple mention of this class of soul
I knew my life had succumb to its ultimate toll
Surprisingly enough I felt much at ease
Especially at the mention, I could have anything I please

As we wondered through hill and dale
My saintly friend continued his telepathic tale
My mind grew full, with what he had to say
And funny thing was, I seem to know it all anyway

We finally arrived at a sweet town that appeared quaint
Flowers seemed to sing and the buildings of rainbow paint
Many people cheerfully frolicked about the street
Gracefully bowing when we had chance to meet

Then in a flash I realized my guardian saint was gone
And there in his place was a man introduced as `Dawn
I asked Dawn, `what is this place?’
To which he replied, `It was my mental space’.

This perplexing response to what I had asked
Put my brain in a boil with this deciphering task
It was then I began to realize what he meant
This was all my imagination – a mind’s invent

So, if it were that this was all in my mind’s creation
I likely could not have left my original situation
Having the sense that I had resolved this unusual puzzle
A strange floating fish appeared and with my nose, began to snuggle

Not wanting for this slimy creature to be sitting on my face
With hands flailing in the air I gave it chase
Then with a flash I suddenly realized
The enchanted place was gone and the water swamp lay open to my eyes

My mind regaining hold of what was in fact now real
My hands though chilled, something at them, I could feel
And there it was I saw, a trout of proportionate size
Starring back up at me with seemingly, knowing eyes

Abruptly sitting up feeling all wet and damped to the bone
My floating friend did not faultier nor want to leave me alone
My mind still foggy by what had just transpired
When the sun reflected on my speckled friend, I couldn’t help but admire

For through the translucent waters I was uncertain if to believe
Whether my eyes were still affecting what I could see
Especially after all that appeared to have gone on
There before me was a fish upon whose flesh appeared to be written: `Dawn

Curiosity’s Bubble

Each day becomes a challenge to live
For it gives rise to search for truth to its purpose
The intellect of mind source to invent many an idea
Yet the proof to its confirming truth ever elusive

Like a worm bait at the end of a fishing line
Taunted to the awareness of its existence
Yet beyond the grasp of its tangible touch
Eluding the concreteness to its reality

Constant is the question of when comes the relief
Derived by the spewing forth of all there is to know
Allowing for the ultimate deflation of curiosity’s bubble
Creating opportunity for energies spent to new direction

At A Loss!

ADDENDUM TO ORIGINAL POST:

Post the 2014 Midterm election; a blood-bath slaughter of the Democrats, has the Republicans with a majority in both the Senate and Congress. This situation for we outside the United States, would likely have the reaction of saying:`so what?’ however, as the the Young Turks in their video report illustrate, the individuals elected as Republican members to both Houses will lead not only the United States but too, the rest of the world’s nations wrong direction when addressing matters such as science and technology, climate change.

The United States hails to be the beckon of democracy, respectful of individual human rights, the model for which other nations are to look to fashion their own free and inclusive social structures of governance. Yet, behold what is the true nature of the United States today:

The 2014 mid-term election of Senate and Congress members is in progress this day (November 4) and its outcome is projected to yield little in the way of change to the roster of senators and congressmen presently seated in both Houses rendering potentially, a status quo situation however, leading up to the election date, it is being reported to be the most expensive electoral campaign in the history of the nation. Complimenting this disturbing statistic is projection; voter turnout is expected to be the lowest in history of United States elections.

The United States legislative and judicial body are being corrupted by the influence of `big money’ thanks to the United States Supreme Court rulings regarding the status of Corporations as citizens and, the creation of `Super PACs; `political action committee (PAC)… a type of organization that pools campaign contributions from members and donates those funds to campaign for or against candidates, ballot initiatives, or legislation.[1][2]’. Further, in the United States, each States’ Supreme Court Judges are elected and, as of 2014, political action committee contributions are being allowed to finance individual campaign races. This ruling allows for out-of-state special interest groups to exercise their influence on state judicial and legislative bodies to meet their national agendas. Essentially, the democratic wishes of the Peoples of a given State can be potentially, rendered mute.

The degree of citizen apathy toward the United States electoral process is compounded by greater restrictions of `voter’s rights’ legislated in primarily Republican majority State legislators intent on affecting primarily lower income and, racial minorities, whom typically support Democrat nominees. Further, to ensure these policies do not see the light of any repeal, State-District boundaries in some States are being redefined to ensure continued Republican majority in the State legislature.

The influence of PAC contribution as of November, 2014 falls just less than six-billion dollars representing contributions by 1233 groups. Ironically, countering common perception as to the financial influence of right-wing loyalist such as the Koch brothers and comparable others; the majority of financial contributions falls to the Democrats with one exception; the National Committee: (if table alignment does not reproduce well LINK TO https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/superpacs.php FOR BETTER VIEW )

NOTE: All the numbers on this page are for the 2014 election cycle and based on Federal Election Commission data released on November 04, 2014.

The deterioration and erosion of confidence in the US’s legislative and judicial bodies of all levels has served to be a boon for political (comedic) satirist such as Jon Stewart, Daily Show; Stephen Colbert, the Colbert Report of Comedy Central; and, most recently, John Oliver, HBO’s, Last Week Tonight. The latter of whom provides a recent 17 minute piece described as: `While midterm coverage is largely focused on the parts of Congress that do very little, vital (and bizarre) midterm elections are going unexamined. State legislators pass a lot of bills, and some of that efficiency is thanks to a group called ALEC [American Legislative Exchange Council] that writes legislation for them. It’s as shady as it sounds!’. The episode can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIMgfBZrrZ8.

Based on the Brookings Vital Statistics on Congress, it is reported that the 113th (2013-14) session of Congress was the least productive of all prior 112 sessions. At a time when the globe is encumbered with major tumultuous and catastrophic events such as the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria of the Middle East; outbreak of Ebola in western African nations with potential to becoming a global pandemic; civil unrest in the Ukraine implicating a potential cold-war event with Russia; the growing genocide and occupation of Gaza by Israel; and last but definitely not least of these significant global concerns; the global economic slowdown reflected by a significant drop in world price of crude oil. If ever in a time of history, when the purported `leader of the free world’, the United States, is observed to be in total and calamitous political disarray; rife with graft and corruption at all levels of its politic, should not the balance of world nations and their Peoples, be alarmingly concerned?

One has to be `at a loss’ to understand how and why other nations should continue to respect and look to the leadership of United States and its constituent levels of governance when it so dramatically and consistently reflects a model of a civil society one would not wish to aspire. Were it not for the pervasive force and power of its (industrial) military complex and its economic status as the global/petrol currency; would its world dominance cease to be as significant.

Today’s broadcast of DEMOCRACY NOW addressing much of what is being spoken to by this essay

DOCUMENTARY: RISE OF ISIS

The Passionate Eye - Rise of ISIS

Recognizing much of what is known of the conflict in the Middle East namely in Iraq and Syria, continues to be via mainstream media soundbites of information, involving the Islamic State (ISIS, ISIL, IS). The following documentary produced by the Passionate Eye provides an insightful examination of the political, religious and other elements in an attempt to clarify what is obviously, a complicated and dangerous issue for all countries affected.  Draw your own conclusions (if any are any to be had) as to who are the true antagonist vs protagonist in this growing conflict:

Who Gives A `Fuck’ Anymore?

As with genres as `docu-fiction’ or `monkumentary’, the following is authored in the same vein:

Who Gives A `Fuck’ Anymore?

A space meandering, life-giving, ball of configured atomic-elements, mysteriously infused with conscious-energy, though equally shared among its inhabitants; its degrees of intellectualized representation is definably and, disturbingly evident. This current epoch’s recorded history serving as source-proof to this expression.

The world seems targeted toward a destiny that belies even the bravest of us to stand against; the prodigious, globalist tyranny that blazons this 21st century existence. The fomentation of those whom came before us in the belief; the foresight to the future of human-kind was theirs to behold. But, times committed passage finds the antithesis; contemporary humanity, succumbing to a malaise surpassing the vilest, cruellest, deadliest of viral bacterium: Greed!

Throughout earthly organism that is humanity; greed for ownership, translated to power of position, spreads like a metastasized cancer. Inflicting its sufferance upon the majority; whom have been strategically, economically, brutalized into a permanent, state of subjugation and submission. A pervasive state; maliciously designed to lobotomize intellectual conjuring or real manifestation, in any form, of countering-forces. The ingenious tools to do so include mindless, distracting entertainment genres, legislated civil obedience replete with brutal, armed-enforcement and penalty-mechanisms and, the anchoring shackles of relentless, financial indebtedness.

Dire though this time depicts, it need not be reason to lament the future for human-kind. Intrinsic to the nature of all living entities is the facet: survival. The intuitive mental and physical strength to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles; like the Phoenix, to rise from the ashes, triumphant and determinately driven to reaffirm it presence.

The question remains for humanity: can it do so without repeating the ills of its historic past or, ask itself: `Who gives a ‘Fuck’ any more?’?

Forever Home

home

The braveness of our naive youth directs
Choice of an alternate path of place to select
To face the challenge for once to be brave
To leave what in memory only is to be saved

Times passage dulls the painful emotion
Letting life speed ahead with locomotion
Striving to conquer our desired ambition goals
Uncertain to what wealth of fulfillment it holds

Decades seamlessly fall by the way
Filled with heart-aches, love and play
Then arrives the call to re-examine purpose
When memories of youthful times resurface

The unwitting sense of return to our youthful home
Takes on a recurring, pronounced mental drone
Not with a beckoning charmed-voice call
But with an allure one cannot fore-stall

Defiant defenses having finally succumb
Forgetting what was lost for what is won
Rejoicing again in all that was once known
To finally return to what forever will be home.

Naked Sun-bathing

naked

Freely naked on the beach, under the Sun
Not for exhibitionistic purpose but just for lazing fun

Strangers ogling, perplexed as they pass
Question: is it brash nakedness or, the sexy curvy ass?

Either way, it is less concerning or, of little regard
At least until one’s penis decides to show hard

Then, it is a matter beyond taking a stand
Especially if it goes beyond a covered hand

In which case the matter can become absurd
As all around become increasingly disturbed

This being the case of lewd public display
It isn’t long before the law enters the fray

What began as innocent avoidance of daily drudge
Now transcends to stand accused before a judge

If there is a moral to this humorous literary pursuit
It is this: avoid naked sun-bathing; wear a swim-suit!

Interviewers’ Query

If you are not familiar; the CBC’s (Canadian Broadcasting Corp)  Jian Ghomeshi hosts an insightful and entertaining radio and television show titled `Q’ wherein he interviews those of the Art’s be it music, film, theater, etc., etc..

Recently he interviewed Robert Downey Jr. and Jian’s style in conducting the interview prompted a thought to question:

                                     What is the Interviewers’ role?

Resulting in the following poem as an idea toward answering the question:

Asking the questions, not to pry,
Looking for answers that avoid a lie;
Peering into eyes that will justify,
Beyond intellect of insight to verify.

No trick of questions’ cross-examination,
Just purpose to discern potential fabrication;
Looking to avoid an inward consternation,
The story unfolding is want of further confirmation.

Neither shrewd nor devious is the intent,
The want is for truthful, insightful content;
Not the distracting illusion of the mind’s invent,
An Interviewers’ query is theirs for reason to prevent.
