NATO: Itching for a Fight?

Anyone with their ear to the `grind-stone’ has to be aware something ominous is brewing.

Tensions globally are ever increasing given the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict that has elevated the all-present fractures between Western Allied Nations and Eastern Alliance Nations stemming from the Ukraine-Russia conflict since February 2019.

Compounding these powder-keg situations is the National elections for many of the Countries involved resulting in potential changes stemming from changes to their leadership; raising the level of uncertainty as to foreign policy decisions post these crucial elections.

These elevated risks are made visible by mounting rhetoric concerning military readiness and the need for escalated recruitment efforts including potential conscription measures pronounced by major NATO member countries, and not to the exclusion of newest applicants Sweden and Finland.

As proof to the seriousness of the situation NATO’s planned war-game ominously titled: STEADFAST DEFENDER 24 referred to as the largest planned exercise in decades.

These tensions are not being ignored by European nations and the call for readiness loud and visible to those whom wish to take notice: ”British Army veteran Robert Clark issued a stern warning for the United Kingdom and Europe in a recent column published by The Telegraph.”

At this point the question that need be asked: `On what basis is this heightened `war stance’ rhetoric founded, and which Country, or Countries is the true instigator, and to what conceivable end?

To fully comprehend the situation at this stage of the gamesmanship being played on the geopolitical stage demands a review as far back as 2004 to current day. Suffice it to say the principles players led by the United States include NATO member Nations [Sweden, Finland], Ukraine, Russia and its regional allies.

As would be obvious Russia, from the Western perspective, is deemed the `Enemy’ to be reckoned with given fear a victory with Ukraine affords Vladimir Putin opportunity to fulfill his perceived but not confirmed ambitions, to re-establish the former Soviet State Nation. “The US defense aid package is held hostage by what President Biden rightly labeled “petty politics” in Washington. And the future of the EU’s economic aid is seemingly dependent on Hungary’s incongruous stance.

Hesitation in the West’s capitals has emboldened Putin. His recent public appearances and defiant statements demonstrate that as far as he is concerned, Russia is in this for the long haul.”

As stated above, to fully comprehend these statements it is essential to understand who is the aggressor in these matters, and to do so, some historical perspective is necessary:

To this end: the collapse of the former Soviet Union came about with the understanding by formal agreement with then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev [1985 to 1991] and President Ronald Reagan’ Administration entered into formal agreement to limit NATO expansion toward the western border of then Soviet Union, now Russia:

The pursuance of Ukraine as a potential member to NATO commencing as far back as 2004, in contravention to the established, historical agreement is the source to the conflict being engaged; essentially a United States proxy war with Russia. This to be exacerbated by the addition of Sweden and Finland to the NATO roster essentially creating a lethal military front on the western border to Putin’s Russia.

In truth, there are several vectors by which global conflict can erupt; each with their `fuse’ ready to be lit. History has proven time and again: they whom cry the loudest for peace, most often are the perpetrators to the conflict.

In the end, ultimately, there are no winners! Centuries of pain and suffering inflicted upon a global citizenry is simply due to the psychopathic ambitions of those in leadership to nations, and the mindless minions whom do their murderous biddings.

Unfortunately, what has significant potential to unfold is this time, no different!

COVID 19: A BLACK SWAN EVENT??

Here’s a little bit of mind bending thought: given the growing Democrat delegate support for Bernie Sanders’ as Democratic Nominee for the 46^th Presidency of the United State; yet, the simultaneous hesitancy of the Democrat Establishment to endorse Sanders’ democratic socialist agenda platform; feeling it will not meet with approval of the general electorate. The Democratic party is re-enforcing this sentiment by paralleling: socialism with communism , to undermine Sanders, and by nominating a more progressive, middle of the road candidate, will avoid Trump’s win of the November, election.

Could the advent of the Corona Virus be an advantage to aid Bernie Sanders?

The Corona virus, a.k.a.: COVID 19, is on the verge to potentially ravish the globe. And, not necessarily from a public health, and mortality perspective; but, the ripple effects the panic, and anticipation of COVID 19, becoming a pandemic, is already show signs of developing.

Could COVID 19 materialize as 2020’s Black Swan event; a metaphor that describes an event that comes as a surprise, has a major effect, and is often inappropriately rationalized after the fact.

It’ is the growing condition of uncertainty that begins to impact the global economy dramatically. Work stoppages, production shutdown, lay-offs, commercial and retail sales decline, etc., etc..

As this condition grows, global stock exchanges see sell-offs; as the virus concern spreads further sell-offs at an increasing pace downward, spiraling to collapse, in all sectors, globally.

Just a few weeks since the outbreak, and cracks in the financial sector are beginning to appear:

Given what has transpired to date with quantitative easing measures, the Federal Reserve, and Central Banks might be powerless to plug the dam of liquidity outflow that have signs of materializing leading to exhausting of the financial system and fortunes being lost overnight.

It essentially, could have the effect of what the 2008 Sub-prime loan debacle did to trigger the financial collapse that almost brought on a depression; but this time: it will likely be from the top – down, and could be 1929 all over again but WORSE!

This potential Black Swan event could serve Bernie Sanders’ campaign well; to put front, and center, his Social Democratic policy platform, of the last forty-years.

The message to the electorate: recognize the collapse being suffered is the direct result of run-away Capitalism. Draw specific example to illustrate clearly, for the majority of the populace, how a purely corporate driven capitalist economy, and financial system is a pipe-dream, the American Dream; devised to benefit, and serve only the few.

Democratic Socialism, as Bernie Sanders has professed his entire life in service to the [Re]-Public; counters all the false promises sold over the last several decades of left-right politics, and promulgated through the corporate owned, and directed Main Stream Media.

A possible Campaign Slogan: BRING BACK THE FUTURE!, with the tag line: “For Hopes, and Dreams? NO, FOR REALITY!”

And should the Democrat Establishment impede Bernie’s rightful claim as Nominee for President; he declare himself an Independent, carrying his electoral support with him.

Then, to guarantee the passing of Bernie’s policies through Congress and the Senate, to vote for Democrats, and Independents, due for re-election, who advocate and fully support Bernie’s platform.

It’s just a thought; what do you think?

November Seven-th (Part 2)

‘ a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.’

The following is an hypothesis of events, potential, to the outcome of the United States Mid-term elections: November 6, 2018:

As portrayed in the first part of this essay titled: November Seven-th , the global situation is tenuous at best as several nations elect, to government, political parties with right-leaning, conservative, and ultra-conservative, platforms and agenda. The scope and breadth of reason for this current trend are too complicated to clearly express their detail, in just a few lines. One need only be attentive to daily news broadcast to have a reasonable understanding to grasp the validity of general statements made henceforth in this essay.

Leading up to election day, November 6, much is occurring in the United States congressional, senate, and gubernatorial state, election campaigns to amplify, even louder, the differences between democrat, republican, and independent member camps, since the inauguration of President Trump, January, 2017.

White, republican candidates becoming increasing embolden to dog-whistle the race card against their Black-American opponents especially in the Florida and Georgia gubernatorial races. The president’s insistent rallying of his political base with incendiary, contradicting and abusive rhetoric pointed to his political, and mainstream media opponents. To the level as to incite one of his supporters to mail pipe bombs to senior members, past president, news organizations, and business icons associated with the Democratic party or deemed to support a liberal agenda.

Compounding this increasingly flammable and volatile situation, across the United States, is the matter of illegal immigration, security of the southern border, and most recently, a Caravan of Latin American migrants purportedly seven thousand, plus, strong making its way through Mexico, to the United States. The republican party candidates, assisted by FOX NEWS, FOX and Friends, FOX Business, and other editorial programs of FOX, have unanimously, seized upon this issue, inflating the matter to a state of hysteria in the minds of constituents, and viewing audience, respectively; and whom of course, are the same demographic that elected Trump to Office and fill his rally stadiums.

The crescendo to all this bellicose, from all sides of the political spectrum, and those factions that support them, is to be heard most stridently November 7th, with the finality of the voting process sheds light on what comes next.

It can be reasonable to suggest: no matter the final distribution of Republicans to Democrats seats for either the House of Congress, or Senate: there will be significant upset and accusations of wrong doing that renders an outcome of the casting of votes, by they who are dissatisfied with the outcome.

With the mainstream media doing the reporting of the election, their reputation for impartiality already tainted, preceding the election, they will be deemed bias if the Democrats take any majority in the race.

If the Republicans hold to their pre-election majority; Trump given a clear mandate and all to be expected second term at 2020; a conservative majority bench in the Supreme Court; Democrats will essential be rendered non-existent and impudent to rule by Trump for the foreseeable future.

So either scenario will likely call for recounts, accusations of vote tampering, voter suppression, etc.; and not to forget mention of Russian influence.

No matter: there will definitely be violence of varying order of magnitude.

If violence escalates to an extreme level resulting in high death counts, and damage and loss of property; Trump may be obliged/willing/tempted to institute measures for Marshall Law to be put into effect, possibly, even before newly elected members can be sworn into Office.

This would provide him the perfect opportunity to suspend habeas corpus, rendering him free of constitutional limits. Trump could execute a coupe of the United States, rendering it a dictatorship with little to no resistance by members of his Cabinet, Department of Justice, Congress, Senate, and most critically: the Supreme Court! It would be a pivotal moment in United States history, and degree to which democratic patriotism truly exists. But, most assuredly, a major civil battle would ensue.

In conclusion, only time’s passage will render a path to history’s making; it can only be hoped that civil disorder, and potential for chaos are condition of last resort.

ENIGMA: ‘a person or thing that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand’

Could this definition not be applied to the 45^th President of the United States: Donald J. Trump?

Even long before Trump pronounced his candidacy, he was portrayed as one whose achievements in business, finance, and personal life, bellied all sense of reason, justification, and rationality in light of the norms most professionals, and the general public of all strata, have been accustomed to believe.

Since his official inauguration, he has successfully pursued the implementation of a significant portion of his electoral platform promises, be it through executive orders, to the more recent contentious matter: with the support of a Republican Congress and Senate, to nominate and approve Brat Kavanaugh as the ninth Supreme Court Judge solidifying a conservative weighted Court Bench for decades to come. All this with no seemingly clear and comprehensive plan or strategy, or so it is thought.

Again, since his official inauguration, the focus of the official, Democrat opposition in both the House, the Senate, and the broader mainstream media, with the exception of FOX News Channel, have set their ambitions to find means to impeach Trump on a variety of charges stemming from influence of Russian meddling and collusion by senior members of his 2016 campaign team; tax evasion and avoidance hallmarked by his reluctance to release his personal and business prior year tax returns; and personal sex scandal with a porn-star and other women. Their collective goal, at minimum, being to conjure enough suspicion and negative accusation on these contentious issues, unresolved though they may be prior to the Mid-term election of November 6, 2018, will embolden Democrats, independents and non-affiliate members of the public to take back either or both, the Senate and House of Congress, to enable the pursuance of impeachment and, ideally, repealing of legislation of regulations enacted through executive orders.

Is it possible those of all stripes who have voiced their concern, and opposition, over the measures taken, to date, by the Trump Administration, domestically, and possibly more critically, on matters of foreign policy and national security, are being measurably, and strategically, mislead?

An eye-opening encounter with a talk given to a predominately white, middle to upper class, right-leaning audience of elderly, men and women by Victor Davis Hanson, the Wayne and Marcia Buske Distinguished Fellow in History at Hillsdale College, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and a professor of classics emeritus at California State University, Fresno [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoAz6o4bUIA&feature=share], wherein he details the conditions that led to the electing of a president, unlike any of his predecessors, as is Donald J. Trump. But, possibly more importantly, the identifying and detailing of the strategy to be employed by his Administration to intentionally respond to those conditions on both the domestic and international stage.

The title to this strategy: Principled Realism.

Principled Realism is a national security paper authored by H. R. McMaster, former National Security Adviser, recently replaced by John Bolton, published in December, 2017.

The symbolism of a change to a policy that now embraces our values was richly expressed by U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart: “We will no longer have to witness the embarrassing spectacle of an American president doing the wave at a baseball game with a ruthless dictator.”

“Idealism holds that the purpose of U.S. foreign policy is to advance American values by fomenting freedom and democracy throughout the world. The ultimate goal of Idealism is to bring about a just and peaceful world by ending tyrannies. Idealists believe that U.S. foreign policy should not be determined by what is best for the United States, but by what is, morally, the right thing to do.

In contrast, Realism holds that the purpose of U.S. foreign policy is to secure America’s national interest. Realists believe that moral principles are incompatible with the protection of our national interest. Trump’s Administration strategy as detailed in McMaster’s published policy paper is neither of these two, previously held foreign policy objectives.. No longer will the United States foreign policies and/or interventions be premised, or measured, on the historic strategy of being the global watchdog and purveyor of democratic tendencies, but rather, on the practical approach to international developments focusing on their direct impact on the economic and national security interests and concerns of the American Peoples, solely.

President Trump’s foreign policy will not be one that puts fear in the minds of oppressive regimes as some had hoped. So it would seem, with `eyes wide shut’, while the Democrat establishment incumbents and supporters, the liberal-leaning on-screen mainstream media and entertainment industry, and political pundits exhaust their efforts to bring down the man: Donald J. Trump; through his folly, embarrassing tweets, and public rally displays as a bombastic idiot, his Cabinet team is stealthfully implementing the doctrines, through legislative policy, of measured principled realism.

The Oracle: the purveyor of things to come, prophecy rendered from the entrails of history’s telling.

The radical departure of Trump from his campaign rhetoric: to retreat from the historic United States’ hegemonic foreign policy, by his postings of Bolton and Pompeo, may be in anticipation of a major correction by the United States’ stock market toward the end of 2018, or early 2019, as detailed in the following report: https://medium.com/insurge-intelligence/city-of-london-financiers-contemplate-imminent-2018-us-stock-market-crash-of-up-to-fifty-ed217752428 .

History has shown; when economies are on the verge of collapse, or significant recession/depression, war becomes a viable option as a diversion for the electorate. Having two war hawks in your War Cabinet in such a period of political turmoil would be advisable. Too, with the 2018 Mid-term elections on the horizon, this would bode well to gain support for a Republican House and Senate win. Trump has two irons in the fire to option his war strategy: Iran and North Korea. Given the complexity of a North Korea war venture, Iran is the most viable target allied by Israel first, and Saudi Arabia as a viable second. Great Britain’s Teresa May would relish a major conflict to divert attention away from the BREXIT fiasco and Angela Merkel, and France’s Macron have their own problems that seek a way out and opportunity to prolong their political careers (said cynically).

So all that said: the future may not be as bright as we may want it, get ready!

The Millennial Challenge: Survival of the Species?

As the title infers, the present course of humanity on the planet is destined toward destruction: self-annihilation. Whether this unwelcome end is manifest by the disastrous effects of climate-change or, equally as bad and potential: thermal nuclear war and the nuclear winter that will ensue.

Regardless of the mechanism, to thwart such potential happening, if there is a solution to be had, it is the Millennial generation, to this current epoch, to take affirmative and permanent action to manifest it.

Inspiring such a movement is Vice documentary production titled: `The Third Industrial Revolution: A Radical New Sharing Economy’ (https://youtu.be/QX3M8Ka9vUA) hosted by Jeremy Rifkin, American economic and social theorist, writer, public speaker, political adviser, and activist, who addresses an American audience of several millennial age men and women, detailing what amounts to a challenging road map to usher in a new economic system. A system presently hinting its way into the lexicon by way of such words as `block-chain’; `share-economy’; bio-system economy’; etc..

The hour and half is stark in Rifkin’s picture painted of the present state of global and earthly affairs detailed by the chronology of events initiated from the start of the 1^st industrial revolution, through the second, and to where matters stand today. And the picture is not pretty nor is to where, if matters do not change dramatically, and soon, things are determined to get much worse.

What is clearly evident by way of Rifkin’s presentation; the European Union countries, led by example of Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel; and, China’s President, Xi Jinping; are leading their respective countries through revolutionary policy changes clearly established to lead them on the path to what he refers to as the `third industrial revolution’. And, simultaneously, asks: `where is the United States on this important issue?. And further, for that matter, by extension: all of North America and remaining regions of the world to address what is essentially a global problem demanding a global solution.

It is almost an imperative that those comprising the Millennial generation, supported by those of all previous generations, to watch, listen and respond to what Jeremy Rifkin details in this very informative and inspiring documentary.

In the United States, Millennials will have the opportunity to institute affirmative action by voting in the upcoming mid-term, November 2018 election to draft a new body of legislators, Senators and Congressman. Those acknowledged to be pro-active in the challenges, not solely on matters of climate-change, but too, a heightened awareness of the role smart technologies and systems of value exchange such as block-chain and crypto-currency/asset value exchange; AI infra-structure and autonomous technologies; construct of the share-economy, to ignite a new era of human r-evolution:`The Third Industrial Revolution: A Radical New Sharing Economy’.

In keeping with my typical voice being expressed in poetry; the following is a poem written early in 2010 acknowledging the state of matters then, that, eight years later, seems most appropriate to express in context of the revolution humanity is upon the threshold to embark:

R-evolution of Human-kind

Only a handful of the world’s people are in the know

And what evil doings they do sow

And from it the hatred amongst all does grow

Question to be answered: What is their game?

And from it: What is the gain?

And by it: Who ultimately does the pain?

The saga of this siege has long been played

The life and blood of the masses is the price paid

When does it stop – when does it go away?

Populations of people are all getting smarter

No longer will they serve as the elite’s fodder

The uprising to come will undo this ongoing slaughter

A cataclysm will it take to break the slave chain

Only then will the people of the world take back their rightful claim

With actions taken to see it never happens again!

Trump Administration’s Executive Order: `President Trump Signs the Executive Order on Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty‘ .

An Essay written in 2005 anticipated the potential negative outcome for many Americans given the growing, vocal presence of the Conservative Religious Right within the politic of the day.

The premise for the original essay is the offering of an open invitation to move to Canada, to those Americans who were becoming increasingly concerned for the positioning of the political and socially conservative, right-wing, evangelical religious movement to influence the White House and ultimately, the Supreme Court, to amend Constitutional laws in favor of their Bible-driven beliefs.

It would seem that day has finally materialized some twelve years later under the Trump-Pence Administration.

If you are a non-believer that is Christian, gay, democrat or liberal in your views and lastly, AMERICAN, Canada has a lot of vacant land available for occupancy whenever you are ready. And from what I saw and heard on this program, though a brief expose of what is gong on in the good old’ US, I would be looking to pack up and move real soon..

The infusion of evangelical religious fervour and the insidious means they employ to establish their faith amongst the many and subsequently the political pressure this puts on the State, the judicial system, it is cause for not only Americans but also, the rest of the world to be concerned.

The evangelical, conservative Christian movement is organized and determined to put their mark on the majority of America in order to shape the future direction of that country. Their coy manner of insisting that they do not have a political agenda, that they do not impose their theology on others is a ruse. They know what their objectives are and precisely how they expect to achieve those goals. And with their ally in the Oval Office – they are on the road to achieve those goals. With the Congress and eventually the Supreme Court weighted in their favour – the implication of this movement will outlive this administration. It is fearful to see and hear American citizens negating any sense of reason or judgement in exercising their right to vote. Regardless of the political aspirations or abilities of a political candidate be they for the presidency, congress or any other arm of the federal government, as long as that individual holds to their same right wing (though they would not label themselves as such), moral Christian values – that is where their vote will be directed. George W Bush is living proof of that commitment

The fear for the balance of Americans in success of this movement is how it translates to the rest of the world’s religious communities the most obvious of these being the Islamic faith who view the events in the United States as a furtherance of the Christian dominance of the world – at their expense. In addition, as has been brutally illustrated to date, they will sacrifice themselves to prevent this from happening.

The rift these events create within the social fabric of American society will have the affect of undermining the united front that up until the unfolding of these events can only serve the enemies of the US – what is the old adage – United we conquer – divided we fall.

Three months into the first term of the Trump Presidency the World is witnessing an erosion of confidence in the foundational institutions of American civil society from its Office of the President through to and including, the institution of the Free Press.

Some have likened Trump’s short-term, to date, as the 45th President of the United States as a train wreck in the making. The President’s short bursts, often unsubstantiated, of claims of Fake News by the Mainstream media outlets, often referred to as the `Fifth Column’ to a Democracy, is undermining the Publics confidence in what is true and accurate reporting. The claims, often communicated late at night or early morning via Twitter, strangely correlate to reports conveyed by Breitbart News and Infowars; Internet-based, alternate News channels. These News media outlets cater to those within the broader community steeped in conspiratorial theories and captioned in their reports such phrases as `information the government doesn’t want you to know‘. Too, the audiences to these channels are widely known to be mostly Caucasian and Christian, religious belief.

The fires of suspicion and mistrust this early into the Trump Administration often fanned by biased pundits and celebrity personalities keen on advancing the strongly right-wing agenda bolstered by a Republican majority in Congress, Senate and now, the Supreme Court, combined with the substantial undermining of the Free Press; one has to question whether this will be the spark of insecurity that ignites the demise of the Republic that is the United States.

History has a cruel way of repeating itself if for no other reason then to attempt to teach Humanity the ills of its ways, and until such becomes the case; the equivalent to Rome of the past, a Nation’s self-annihilation may happen but once again.
