Consolation

consolation

Election’s storm chaos
Brewed upon horizon storm
Left to the merchant of the past
‘Til life becomes the norm

Left to excuses that heed a cause
Norm to equation before life pause
Children scurry for reason to be
Understanding nature – why they killed the bees

Holy grail an excuse for the survivor
Gnostic understanding to make it a liar
Catholic churches bent by their spire
Non-denominational truth trying to get higher

Words of meaning left to the futile mind
Thoughts by another suspiciously left behind
No reason to be given lest one be blind
The consolation being: it will define the time

bill o’reilly – hypocrite

bill oreilly

One gets very tired of these so called advocates of the Christian right to espouse their views when locked away in their own dirty closet is history of what they themselves deem as inappropriate, scandalous, perverted; especially when dealing with topics of sexuality and sexual behavior.  Case in point is non-other than Bill O’Reilly a self-aggrandized talking feature of FOX NEWS line-up.

Back several years and, faithfully forgotten, is O’Reilly’s own brush with sex scandal that almost destroyed his career however, to his benefit, people who watch his show and FOX CHANNEL in general, have very short attention spans and so to address that fact, here is a link to over 13000 results of a YOUTUBE search keywords: `bill o’reilly sex scandal’ . And, to hopefully further entertain you; here is a poem I wrote in response to that topic at the time when it was causing a media-storm:

Public Fame

When in the public’s fame
It all becomes a little insane
Coz you can’t tarnish your name
No matter how severe the shame

There is this fella named O’Reilly
Whose scandalous story can get one ril-e
Would have killed the career of most
But he, on camera, still smiling, as newscaster host

A little rehab or maybe a `tell all’ book
Either trick to get you off the hook
Ask O’Reilly – rehab is the route he did favor
All is repented, he’s found his savior

It seems if you’re famous and handsome or cute
In or, but preferably, out of a suit
The media is yours – so be the media-flirt
Then just relax and bask in the light of all the dirt

Celebs, they come to each others aid `live and on camera’
Heads bowed to Oprah, as though before the Deli Lama
To ask for public forgiveness and to make penance
Knowing you shouldn’t really give `two-cents’

The moral to this tale:

So do the crime, don’t be sublime;
Coz your STAR will continue to SHINE!

21ST CENTURY EUGENICS

Recent laws passed in the State of Texas regarding the right to buy and publicly show guns of any caliber in conjunction with the State of Florida’s `Stand Your Ground’ legislation should, I think, create some interesting outcomes. In an expression of dark humor; I coin the experience as a 21st Century Eugenics; a means to cull the populace of those too ignorant to see the ridiculousness of both these pieces of legislation by the following illustration:

The Force

force3

A poem reflective of the disparity and divisive nature of our growing, global society; a seemingly down-ward, spiraling condition perpetrated, instigated, promulgated, maturated, by a force like the force alluded to by the Star Wars saga; but, negative by its intent to persuade those so infused, to do the inhumane to humanity; enriching themselves along the way and so, made blind to them, the equal, counter-weight of purgatorial sufferance that awaits!

open mic

mic

Last evening I had the unique pleasure to attend a Zine launch in Toronto that featured poetry reading and an Open Mic opportunity for whomever was brave enough to bare their creative soul to ideally, a critical audience of like-minded writers and lovers of poetry.  With the aid and encouragement of a good friend to take the mic, I plunged in and, for the first time, Expose my Naykd self to a live audience. To say it was impacting would be an understatement and, to commemorate the event, I wrote the following:

Open Mic

Electronically echoing foreign musings
By frequency word of song in poem
Cerebral, creatively conjured
Uncensored, undeterred, broadcast
Intent on embellishment to thought
Altering recipient perception by its infusion
Initiating synaptic creation by its uniqueness
Transforming, altering traditional response

Manifesting reaction; forever altering living destiny

Rebellion Threatens?

Darkening skies progressively envelops the world
As a growing, calamitous rebellion threatens to unfurl
Awaiting the spark to light the cannon fuse to imperil
Global, social civil-order collapsing in a downward swirl

World-wide austerity an IMF* invention
Usurping a nation’s wealth through monetary intervention
By central banks acquiescence without contention
Leaving tax payers lowered wages and depleted pensions

Fourteen years and growing
This global turmoil élite oligarch have been sowing
Their intent: to stimulate what is showing
A people’s uprising to an end they’ve long been knowing

Militarized police forces readied and in the waiting
Frothing for the conflict instead of political debating
Lives to be lost and arrests just for congregating
Main-stream-media the cowardice tool for infuriating

A rude awaking awaits the many, unaware masses
Manipulated, lost to electronic social-media’s rose-tinted glasses
When suddenly, their insular, virtual world finally collapses
Leaving them dumbfounded, lost and, flat on their gullible asses.

Simple Ambition

facebw2

As a young man, early in my youth
I thought the world my realm
There would be nothing I couldn’t do
As captain steering this life’s rudder-helm.

But as the years past and, getting older;
The harsh realities of life taken root;
My ambitions it seemed, became less bolder,
As my true assessment of life; more astute.

Not to say things went totally array,
There have been successes along the way;
But, innocent naivety of youth does belie:
As more then simple ambition in life, is needed to play.

YOU TUBE: Undermining Societal Systems of Belief?

The Proliferation of Misinformation on the Internet

The world increasingly, is becoming a crazy place to be and with the advent of ease to access the Internet by the general public, the craziness is being proliferated exponentially. (This brief rant its self might serve equally to justifying this observational statement).

Every human with access to and the will, can now make their point-of-view, qualified or not, known to whom-ever is interested to read, listen and/or watch their dissertation on an infinite array of subject matter. To witness the extent some individuals, organizations, assemblies, etc., are willing to go both in expression and expense, spend an afternoon on You Tube or similar public access website to see evidence to this statement. It is amazing to comprehend the production values expended on presentations with the aimed objective to convince others of what more often then not, represents an obtuse perspective from the conventional norms held by the majority.

From jehadist to evangelical extremist and not to forget the fatalist perspectives of Truthers, end-of-times prophets, etc., etc., the Internet has become a timely tool to make these perspectives wildly known being broadcast to a global audience. And, amazingly, basically at no or minimal cost save for the time and expense of production.

For all intent, the Internet, in the infancy stage of presence yet, is already rife with ubiquitous and outlandish, often conflicting, perspectives begging the question: Where does it lead?

Post the unceremonious passing of the overly hyped end-of-the world events speculated during the years leading to the arrival of Winter Solstice 2012 and similar dire prophecy, it would be expected such prophetic conjecture to diminish in presence on the Internet due to the general failure to capture a credible audience. But yet, quick review of the content of current You Tube uploads would suggest otherwise.

A recent example of this deals with the subject of Planet X or Nibiru that to-date, occupies gigabytes of data on You Tube uploaded over the past decade. The speculation to the arrival of this mysterious dwarf star’s collision with Earth is now long past yet just recently an astronomy student posing as a Dr. Kaplan, an astronomy professor, posted a You Tube video making a very convincing statement to the `truth’ of the Planet X event replete with its being recorded at a real astronomy observatory displaying to the unfamiliar, computer graphs and co-ordinates of its placement in the solar system and projected arrival. Subsequent to this posting a second video was posted wherein he admits it was a hoax. Unfortunately, such misleading and for the gullible fatalist prone to viewing these episodes; this experience is repeated far to often with little effort however, has the potential of imposing much harm on those easily influenced in such matters.

(View referenced videos then admission of the hoax:

This then begs a second query: why does there continue to be significant audience for what most often, proves to be nothing more than misleading, misinformation for much of what is uploaded to websites such as You Tube?

A suggestion to answer this question to the ongoing and in some instances, growing fascination created by much of what is presented on You Tube and like websites, is the innate sense of curiosity inherent in the minds of most people. Is it possible the intrigue derived by encountering a source to what might be new, `unknown’ information, regardless of its truth or fact, becomes the driving force to take-in the material being presented?  Too, as in many cases, the quality and production-values attributable to the presentation can be of such high standard as to imply the information to be credible otherwise, why would the presenter be willing to expend significant resources for its creation?

To conclude; as the decades `stream’ by and sophisticated technological tools such as CGI (computer generated imaging) and similar video production and editing software becomes increasingly available and easier to use, coupled with advanced computer technology accessible for public consumption, it will become increasingly difficult to discern the truthfulness and accuracy of what is presented. In the end, it is likely to undermine systems of belief in gaining sense of real-truth to our advancing reality and the potential impact on society at-large.
