Etched To The Bone

WSH_SM4C

Surprising, this poem, written back in 2008, finds a fitting place reflecting the current day’s experience; the unfolding of events that speak to a darker time that, potentially, lies ahead for all humanity and its implication for generations that are yet to follow:

Etched To The Bone

My mind spins

From the chaos echoing

From the choir

Disaster of faith

In the fabric of mankind

Can the deluge

Grow even higher?

When will it stop?

When will the end begin?

The pain that I am feeling

Is in need of a pill that can win.

Factions in every corner

Spewing the ill

Of the coming way

Offering nothing in return

But explaining

How we will righteously pay

Bleed for the children

For they know not

What it is

Tomorrow’s growing darkness

Is the inheritance to be given?

What in the morning

Will they say?

Oh what sadness

Is being etched into the bone

For generations to come

This ailing condition

Will call it: home!

The Coming War On Information

Recalling the Nazi Burning of Books

The heard phrase: `history repeats itself’ is potentially finding its relevance in this tumultuous time as the world awaits the inauguration of Donald J. Trump the 45th President of the United States.

Preceding this historical event, predicated upon the choice selection of the coming Trump Administration’s Cabinet members, professional communities are actively taking steps to preserve precious scientific information archives from perceived potential of tampering, deletion and retarding of broad accessibility. Literally, backup copies of all relevant scientific information and study in the realm of climate change especially, are being directed to foreign countries such as Canada for preservation and safe-keeping.

The construct of President-Elect Trump’s cabinet speaks to a denial of all claims of human industrial impact on the environment leading to an inevitable broad deregulation, if not total dissolution of agencies established to protect the environment.

Not only will Trump’s administration impact the field of science but too, education, social security, health and welfare and most importantly, immigration, are directly targeted for dramatic, draconian change given the faces to occupy key positions within his administration.

Without a doubt, the only winners, ironically, will be those whom his vocal and candid supporters of his campaign, the lower & middle working class, are against; the establishment elite. Proof to this are the conflicting statements regarding tax cuts which during his campaign suggested major benefits for lower-middle class earners [campaign tax plan] and subsequent statements post his election [tax cut expected]. It will remain to see what actually transpires but, no doubt, those who enthusiastically supported him stand to be greatly disappointed.

There is little doubt Trump’s campaign slogan: `Make America Great Again’ will unleash a tsunami of de-construction of policies and regulations that took decades of progressive administrations to establish. The Will of the People who take responsibility for putting a shrewd, win-at-any-cost individual such a Trump in the White House, have also provided him with a compliant Congress, Senate and most importantly, a Supreme Court to allow his administration to chart a course unprecedented in the history of the United States and the World, no doubt, potentially stands to be the worse for it. Only with time’s passage will it be known what fate awaits us all.

Will It [N]ever Happen?

trump

               Donald J. Trump                            Rodrigo Duterte

Face it, the reality is that the System; the organized, political, judicial and institutional structure of civil society, as it has evolved, comprehensively, is beyond the scope of any Common-person or group of persons, to evoke REAL CHANGE!

Regardless of the Country-nation, be it one governed by democratic philosophy or autocratic, dictatorial oppressive rule; those individual citizens who advocate for a leadership role, on the strength of reforming the rule of law and legislative governance at the behest of the Common citizen, typically renege on the rhetorical promises made during their electoral campaign.

Virtually, on every occasion in the last century; be they President, Prime Minister, Autocratic Dictator or, other titled leader of a Nation, democratically elected or not, to the highest Office of the Nation; upon taking office and at times before, the only true change observed is diametrically opposite in direction to that advocated in the course of their electoral campaigning.

The direct consequence of this failing on the part of those elected to lead In the majority of countries deemed to have fully open, free democratic election processes; the percentage of those who actually vote typically falls below fifty-percent. Meaning, the candidate elected to Office in effect represents significantly less than a minor majority of the nation’s Peoples. The level of political skepticism and mistrust of elected officials effectually nullifies its true significance and fundamentally, is a waste of time and of public revenues.

So what is the remedy solution if, in fact, there is one to be had?

The answer to this question is elusive at this time, however, there are TWO real-time case-studies to be observed over the course of the next coming year of 2017 and beyond:

A) The Presidency of Donald J. Trump – 45 President of the United States

B) The Presidency of Rodrigo Duterte – Newly elected President of the Philippines

The significance of these two presidential administrations stems from both incumbents being elected on the strength of severe and radical CHANGE to the Establishment rule preceding being officially sworn to Office of President. Each having taken a controversial stance on the current state-of-governance and affairs.

In the case of Donald Trump, President-Elect; his brash and at times controversial statements in presenting his electoral platform focused on the middle-class; advocating for their better representation in the form of jobs and equality to share in the prosperity of the nation captioned by his electoral slogan: `Make America Great Again’.

However, the professional character of those whom his `Transition Team’ has announced, to date, to hold senior cabinet positions within the Trump Administration would suggest the antithesis to the far-reaching promises of his campaigning rhetoric.

Donald J. Trump – President Elect

With respect to President Duterte; his election rhetoric too was brash and controversial in nature. His use of deriding language focused on the condition of the middle-class but, more significantly, with respect to the state-of-the nation’s widespread, illegal drug cartels and, rampant corruption of those within public offices of government and private businesses advocating for a ruthless, eradicating approach to remedy the problems.

President Duterte

In conclusion, given the atypical construct of the campaigns awarding these two unconventional individuals the highest office of their respective Nations; the domestic and international implications of their administrative policies during their time of governance as yet to manifest on the world stage, undoubtedly, regardless, they will have a long-term impact on next generation, electoral cycle machinations for their respective nations as well, for those of observing nations.

However, in the interim, the Common-person still remains hostage to the failings of those who choose to come forward on the strength and promise of REAL CHANGE and, the inability of the System to mitigate its failings.

Demanding of Goodness

world divide

Deeper into evil’s darkness as the world recedes;
Disregarding how much its populations are made to bleed;
Inspired by ill-gotten wisdom of those who purport to lead;
Demanding the loud outcry of opposition’s struggle plead.

The forces of evil have found their needed start
By national leaders chosen with deceitful, evil heart
Set to tear all that has been made good, apart;
Demanding remedy capable to outwit, to outsmart.

The future for humankind seems increasingly bleak,
Incarceration of those who attempt to outwardly speak,
Militarized police beating down demonstrations in the streets;
Demanding the full goodness of all humanity for this enemy to defeat.

Proclivity

proclivity

Locked away in the mind’s darkness cave,
Left to manifest thoughts outwardly brave
Though, when spoken, the conflicted do rave;
Challenging wisdom’s retreat, to save.

History’s pattern unwittingly resolves
Into depths of forgetfulness to dissolve;
Leaving pain and suffering itself to solve;
To once again, like a clock wound, revolve.

Human nature, a questionable ally or foe,
An intuitiveness’ retarded flow,
A once thought `truth’, to bind and know
Yet, it’s truth’s blindness that does grow.

Giving reason to this proclivity to discern;
Having spent millennia endeavoring to learn
Yet, humankind, seemingly, more resolute to spurn
And, for it; civilization, as in past, does ultimately burn.

What Monumental Event?

PROMISE BOUND

Awakening to this world increasingly in disarray,
When will this needless suffering go away?
Cluster bombs, extreme weather taking innocent lives,
When will we take serious the global, human, deathly cry?

Who are these leaders that make the charge?
To what end do they allow this to go so far?
To allow suffering on such monumental scale,
Can they not see their deemed leadership, disastrously fail?

Have decades of brutal war on every horrendous scale,
Not taught humanity, this is a defeatist’s path to curtail?
Trillions of dollars expended to advance this inflicted pain,
All to the benefit of those, out of harm’s way, to richly gain.

Political platitudes and ceremonial remembrances become insults
To those willingly giving their lives, to remedy these egregious faults.
Expending the future of humanity, being lost to needless death and strife;
What monumental event will it take to bring back a loving, harmonious life?

TRUMP vs The M.S.M.

160204_donald_trump_AP_1160.jpg

First, let me state the following is NOT intended to be deemed support for Donald J. Trump as the next President of the United States, however, that stated, I find it difficult to accept the reportage centered on the premise of his failing to pay his fair share of taxes LINK.

To any rational mind, the suggestion that Trump has avoided or failed to pay taxes stemming from a $916million dollar capital loss via his 1995 tax filing is erroneous.

First, the responsibility for the validity of claims for losses does not rest with the one filing such losses but with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Given that the filing is for the 1995 fiscal year of Trump business activity, one would have to presume the IRS fulfilled its due diligence and accepted the filing as meeting all applicable tax laws of the time.

The News media’s attempts to paint a different picture is both slanderous and misleading to the general public, most of whom are not versed in the manner by which the IRS deals with corporate filings. This only leads one to interpret this as a calculated effort by media outlets to discredit Trump and his campaign bid for the White House and by default, give credence to the Clinton campaign to utilize this `scandal‘ to unfair advantage.

The fear of a Trump presidency is palpable, however, to utilize such tactic will only serve to bolster his blue-collar base to vote not necessarily for Trump himself but, against the Establishment which, as they see it, includes the increasingly obvious bias of mainstream media.

It is a dangerous game being played, one likely to radically change the face of civilized western society for decades to come yet, those in the position to influence, such as the mainstream media (of all format), either fail to recognize this fact, or, willingly sacrifice potential for a harmonious future for the sake of ratings (CBS)

The Blame

flag

This poem was written a while back, however, given the recent expansionist mindset of the current Canadian government to give approval to the installation of a liquid natural gas terminal on the pristine coastal waters of British Columbia recently; it demands a revisit to consider the possible detrimental, future outcome of such an environmentally impacting decision.

Myopic is the global, political mindset,
It yields the greatest electoral return,
Foregoing the interest of the unborn children,
Yields fossil fuels legislated to pollute, opposition to spurn.

Jobs, jobs, and more jobs
The rationale to explain and excuse
The destruction of earthly resources;
Health and welfare of the many to be abused.

Fracking, pipelines nomenclature of the day,
Hyped as essential for the economy to survive.
Forests and fresh water are resources to be given up for the cause;
Deemed unessential for humanity to flourish and thrive.

The powers that be hold all the relevant cards,
The balance of power rests in their hand.
To reverse the current destructive, global path;
The powerless together, must unite and band.

Populace, street demonstrations are impudent to needed change;
A more powerful, permanent message may be needed, enforced.
A global, collective opposition to those whom self-serving, rule;
A tangible, visible sign of change that all humanity can endorse.

Violence, loss of property and life is not the wanted course
Yet they who hold the power for conditions to be sustained;
Continue to ignore the plight and demands of the many,
Whatever the outcome, responsibility, to them, the blame, remains.

homage to a world lost 4

Encountering one of my earliest published works online gave pause to what I wrote and subsequently self-published under the title: HOMAGE TO A WORLD LOST . Contained within this book, debut 2010, are poems reflective of the tumultuous first decade of this 21st Century.

The reading of many of the poems clearly  echoes, in a prophetic way, what is being experienced around the globe presently namely; the seeming collapse of effective governance and the politics it embodies; the run-away state of sectarian and religious terrorism throughout the globe; and, the extremes of climate change driven by global warming to name but a few of the subjects addressed.

Here is your chance to freely read some or all of the 133 pages contained therein and, for yourself, to draw your own conclusions about the state of a WORLD LOST!
