Cars of Cuba
If there is ever to be a distinctive iconic feature to this amazing island country, it has to be the wide and varied collection of well-preserved late 40’s to early 50’s automobiles. The living time-capsule of an era long past for most of the remaining world cultures especially for North America where such relics are coveted and fetch thousands of dollars. The opening of relations between Cuba and the United States will undoubtedly put pressure on those holding onto these treasures to give them up for the reward of enough money to buy the latest model on the roads today. faces of Cuba
The following is a collection created on an excursion through Cuba. A journey traveled beginning in Havanna and on through the countryside toward the eastern shores to Santiago de Cuba. It was a joy to experience the many varied smiling and curious of faces of Cuba reflecting the unique and historical heritage of this intriguing and somewhat, isolated country. The images were taken using a hand-held Nikon 150 35mm using a 28-150mm zoom lens with natural lighting. Enjoy: (click on image to enlarge)
The above image was caught as I passed by a window opening of 2×3 feet. It was a spontaneous move to point my camera through the window opening not really knowing what awaited on the inside nor how my camera settings would respond. Surprisingly, when I got the film developed, I was tremendously dumbfoundedly amazed to realize upon seeing the resulting image; it was though they were just waiting for me to pass by to take this picture. I will never forget the excitement to realize the full depth to what I was so fortunate to have captured.

Memories Pleasure
With mixed emotions I view a photo from the past
That tells the story of a love deep, yet did not last;
Only with time passing to weigh the full cost
Does one fully realize, the value lost;
So rare are opportunity to find love true,
With one whom shares equally with you;
Precious are these memories left to treasure
Yet, they garner a mixed sense of pleasure.
