New Beginnings?

`food for thought’

The only way to start this article is with a question:

Are we seeing a decline that may suggest a trend influenced by the long anticipated mythological, prophesied, events of  Winter Solstice, 2012?

It would be understandable that many by the inference to super-hyped, life-ending, earth-shattering events prophesied  to occur on December 21st, 2012  by the reputed end of the Mayan Calendar, would abruptly stop reading. However; this article is based on factual observation of global events occurring over the course of 2012 that suggest a potential, yet strange, trend. A trend that raises the curiosity the question poses.

Over the course of the last decade the volume and frequency of information connected with various Mayan and Hopi prophecy claiming the ‘end-times’ are upon us, climaxing December 21st, 2012, realizing the spectrum of disastrous manifestations, has assuredly, served to raise global consciousness on this one issue, likely more than any other.

This stated, as of the date for this article, there remains forty-seven (47) days to the Winter Solstice and fifty-seven (57) days to the end of 2012. To-date the following significant events have occurred or are in the process of unfolding, that suggest the trend alluded to (in no particular order):

1.The dethroning  of Lance Armstrong as the seven time champion of the Tour de France and other honors stripped for doping and, the implications derived as result;
2.The stalled National Hockey League (NHL) labor dispute likely to result in the loss of the entire 2012-13 season and its dire financial implications;
3. The significant loss of life, devastation and financial hardship brought by Hurricane Sandy resulting in the closing of New York City and several adjoining States and Boroughs along the eastern-seaboard;
4. The 2012 presidential election finds a polarized nation equally split: incumbent President, Democrat, Barack Obama at 48% versus Republican, Mitt Romney at 47% leaving it to a handful of States to end the deadlock and the potential aftermath, depending on who finally wins;
5. Financial global crisis and social unrest most evident in European nations however; there exists a strong potential a major global recession if not depression could be exacerbated to reality should the US presidential election fail to produce a clear winner;
6. Global weather pattern changes continue to impose massive earth and climate changes with drastic and significant social and financial effect on institutional sectors of agriculture and food production, wild-life habitat and migration, extreme rainfall leading to significant flooding and land erosion countered by extreme drought conditions elsewhere;
7. Generalized social unrest to varying degree, in almost every nation of the planet due to social, financial and economic hardship promulgated by the financial collapse experience commencing 2007 and fanned in part, by some of the events listed above; and there are more.

These few events highlight the nature of their ‘global’ impact and broadly accepted representation as ‘institutional’ component to the fabric of modern-day society however; closer examination and observation on the part of the reader to world events is likely to give several more events having occurred or, in the process of occurring, that lend them to the purported trend speculated here, by this article.

To close: as with all matters related to future events; they can only be deemed pure speculation; predicated on related and factual historical events. However, it is only with the passage of ‘real-time’ that such speculation and anxiety derived from it will come to its end. As to Mayan and Hopi prophecy and the `end-time’ they purport: here too, they are based purely on the  speculation of well publicized, self-proclaimed  authority(ies) on the topic.

In the end, all that is left to be said is: good luck and good fortune; may the future have nothing but good tidings for All as the clock strikes 12:01, January 01,2013 and beyond.

UPDATE TO ELECTION DAY 2012

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POSTING: With the coming November 8th election, every voting American  should watch this series of news reports produced by THE REAL NEWS NETWORK; an independent Internet News Network that tells it like it is and can boast ZERO conflict of corporate interests gaining its financial support solely from its viewers/registered members:

REAL NEWS REPORT: Easy Way To Steal an Election

In recognition of elections in the United States and elsewhere on this troubled Globe, I offer up the following:

Platform in hand claiming new convention
Political pundits’ cry for attention

The electorate looks the other way
Saying `why bother’ in the end, we still pay

Each Party claims: `light at the end of the tunnel
Yet the money gets siphoned as quick as water down a funnel

With words like: Promise, Trust and, Honesty, increasingly typical
The populace has reason to grow more tired and  cynical

This vile condition breeds chronic mistrust and skepticism
And a country void of a future and dwindling optimism.

Change To Timeless Promises

Change, to timeless promises, sinks
Into the depths of mental madness;
Driven there by the energies
Expended upon reflection;
Bringing tangled weaves of
Truth to hypocrisies seen;
Weaned on the milked teat
Of societal dream’s rhetoric;
To escape to this tragedy’s
Path dis-remembered;
Each, revisited, forth year’s
First Monday’s November.

New Epoch’s Beginning?

Author’s Note: All the News about a `frankinstorm’ about to hit the region where I live has infused a sense of foreboding to stimulate the following poem. Strange how the few words of the first line to the poem could generate such an eerie picture but, I guess, that’s what writing is all about! Enjoy and Happy Halloween!

A deathly stillness did befall the night
Even nocturnal creatures lay out of sight
What evil doing doth bring on such fright
Will all be alive to see the new morning light?

As the darkened hours ascended toward dawn
Silence did greet, void of sounds of a morning’s song
Til a rumbling stirred, falling color leaves to the lawn
A stirring to awaken all to wonder: what is going on?

The ground shook, with a fury and a roar
A foreboding darkened sky hinted to what was in store
The wind howled, shaking even the most secure door
Was this the coming of the elder’s whispered lore?

Shaken to the root, all this sudden commotion,  did cause
Giving even the sanest of people, reason to pause
Knowing that this happening did defy all physical laws
Or is it more a telling, of humanity denying its flaws?

Endless seemed the uprooting of all that was earthly built
Thousands to their knees pleading forgiveness of all guilt
With no one to heed, all came to be beneath the settling silt
A new epoch’s beginning, brought on by the Earth’s sudden tilt.

Where Is The Justice?

Lynch the Bastards!

When considering that the majority, the common people, dutifully go about their mundane life performing meager jobs, for meager pay, responsibly pay their taxes and the rest put to survive frugally each day, have become victims. Then, through no fault of their own, save for having chosen to elect inept public officials who, through their own ignorance or corrupt manipulation, allow others, obviously wiser and mischievously corrupt, to drain the public treasury to the severe detriment of the same common people. Then, to add insult to injury, the same inept government officials turn to the common people advocating they must endure hardship to re-establish the depleted treasury, to restore programs of civility and healthy economy. All the while these same officials retain their high-paid salaries and entitlements including lucrative pension benefits should they chose out of shame, to retreat into retirement. And, as for the welfare corporate state, primarily responsible for the failure of the state’s economy, either direct or indirectly, too, are able to sustain their lucrative and quality, standard of living.

Heaven forbid that the common people should make their discontent known by demonstrating in the public streets that their life’s hardship financed into existence. To be confronted brutally by legions of shielded, armed riot police all of whom too are well compensated by those whom they beat back with hardwood batons and liters of pepper spray.

One has to ask:Where is the fairness of justice in this civil, social system?

The severe financial crisis that permeates nations globally which elected governments must be held directly accountable to have let materialize through a myriad of rational reason, must come to understand that unlike prior instances of similar civil malaise, the common people being more educated and informed are less tolerant then in the past. They must take notice that unless significant measures are taken to reverse the tidal flow of benefit from those responsible for perpetrating and prospering from the ills of our times, the `Let them eat cake’ philosophy of old will once again render a corresponding but more vicious and sustained uprising.

The threshold of tolerance of the hardworking majority, the 99 percent, is close to being transgressed and what potentially lies awaiting beyond its border, at all expense, will be mercilessly dispensed. The blind bravery of common people has historically been witnessed in past, worldly events; the bonding element having been to the welfare of all. The same element of resolve will undoubtedly manifest should the adverse austere conditions presently being imposed on the majority by the one-percent, and the governments that protect them and,  it will not relent.

Is All Sanity Lost?

To anyone keen on global politics, the Republican Party presidential nominee primaries has to be at the top of the chart of things to watch and listen.

To date the campaign has been a roller-coaster ride with each of the original field of eight candidate hopefuls having their `kick at the can’ as favorite with the exception of media cast underdog: Ron Paul.

Exiting the most recent primary of South Carolina it would appear of the remaining four: Mitt Romney, Newt Gingerich, Rick Santorum and last but not least, Senator Ron Paul; Newt Gingrich seems the flavor dejour .

Gingrich’s South Carolina win comes as somewhat of a surprise though rumored leading up to the day of voting as likely to unseat rival Mitt Romney who won New Hampshire and seemingly tied with Santorum in Iowa.

As observer to the 2012 GOP nomination process, what is increasingly disturbing, listening to the rhetoric of the three candidates as each takes turn basking in the spotlight of Republican delegates amour, is the unabashed `call-to-arms’ when discussing the perceived Iranian nuclear program. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate countering the `war-mongering’ position.

By virtue of Romney, Gingrich and Santorum sharing the spotlight if not momentarily, as front runner, what is most alarming and should be of concern to everyone around the globe, is the unanimous support suggested by Republican voters support of continued United States hegemonic and interventionist foreign policy and anti=Islamic propaganda. It is as though a significant segment of US citizens have amnesia when it comes to starting war in the Middle East and their cost to life and treasury.

As stated, Newt Gingrich won South Carolina taking 40 percent of the votes cast against Romney’s 28 percent; Santorum and Paul taking 17 and 13 percent, respectively.

With a commanding win by Gingrich,, with the real potential that he be elected 45th President of the United States, it would be intriguing to know more of his political track-record.

Not surprising, Internet search results are more commentary on his marital misgivings then his politics however, the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) [http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/Gingrich_Newt] provides a detailed analysis of Gingrich’s path to present glory.

A review of Gingrich’s rise through the mine-laden chasm of politics, it can only be conclude that, despite a concern for Gingrich’s erratic nature and inconsistency in setting policy, the overwhelming concern for all people, should be his stated willingness to pursue military solution to threats and foes to the United States – unilaterally and without consent of its allies if necessary.

The current, greatest threat to world stability is the quagmire of the Middle East: the powder keg being Iran, the fuse Israel, the match, the Untied States. That said, a Gingrich quote taken from the ISP web-site: “waging war against us since 1979,” he has explicitly espoused an emphatic regime-change line, telling CNN in October 2011, “Our goal should be the replacement of the Iranian dictatorship.” should give pause to everyone when considering Newt Gingrich for President.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that the United States electoral populace is more then split on issues of policy both domestic and foreign, they are `scattered’. There are many important and relevant issues by which to divide the electorate, namely: declining economy, rising unemployment, financial crisis in the national debt and, foreign policy related to impending war with Iran to name the most significant. However, what is most telling about the state-of-mind of the voting public and reflected by the main-stream-media is the blatant and obvious disregard for the one candidate most consistent in his platform to address all of these issues is Senator Ron Paul.

To an outside observer it is increasingly difficult to understand how the erratic, vacillating, egregiously blatant lying and, documented ‘flip-flopping’ on policy and other matter by the three leading candidates versus Ron Paul’s consistent and grounded platform, does not permeate with a greater majority of voters then he now enjoys.

Though many find Ron Paul’s platform a radical shift in American doctrine both domestic and foreign, confidence should be garnered from at least knowing what he stands for and what he would do as President unlike his opponents whom have demonstrated conclusively their fallibility of consistency and willingness to acquiesce to pressures imposed by Lobbyst over the interests of the citizens of the United States and the balance of the World.

In conclusion, considering the performance of the Obama administration over the last three-plus years in Office and, the President’s obvious departure from the platform on which he was so stridently elected; should any of the three leading Republican contenders ultimately become the 45th President, seems almost irrelevant. The four years following the January 20th, 2013 inauguration and potentially beyond, will undoubtedly be filled with strife, tension, impending if not full-out conflict that will continue to erode any possibility for sane, peaceful well-being for all people, throughout the World.
